BACKGROUND

Phil works across the IT Week News section, with an emphasis on security, and is also responsible for providing content for the Internet section. He contributes daily to the IT Week web site and assists online editor David Neal with posting copy. Phil also helps to produce the weekly podcast.

In August 2004 Phil worked as a freelance researcher for the Rough Guide to Edinburgh, before joining IT Week as a reporter in January 2005. He was promoted to senior reporter in 2006.

Prior to becoming a journalist, Phil worked in Japan for three years teaching English.
